AMD has announced the release of an update to its FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) scaling technology to version 3.1. Five games have received support for it with the AMD FSR 3.1 release.

Let’s recall that the first game to support AMD FSR 3.1 was the director’s cut version of Ghost of Tsushima back in mid-May, and now it has been joined by four more ports from Nixxes Software.

Distinctive features of FSR 3.1 are increased image quality and the ability to generate frames separately from scaling, which allows it to work with third-party solutions (for example, DLSS from Nvidia).

To celebrate the release of the new version, AMD also showed a comparison video demonstrating Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart using FSR 3.1 and 2.2. The video allows you to evaluate the difference in image quality.

AMD reports that AMD FSR 3 (“especially with the 3.1 update”) delivers an average of 3.3x performance gain when gaming at 1440p or 4K on a PC with an AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics card.

Along with the games listed above, AMD FSR 3 and FSR 3.1 support is available in 60 already released and upcoming projects, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, inZOI, The Alters, Nobody Wants to Die and others.
